Week starting 17th November - the concrete raft

Despite a couple of days of freezing cold fog, work continues. The base is levelled with gravel, steel is put in place for strength, drains are laid and the conduit for pipes and cables go down.

A central barrier is concreted in place in advance of the arrival of the loads of ready mixed concrete. Then on the 'concreting day' four wagon loads arrived during the day. It was a very long and hard day. The concrete had to be levelled and there was plenty of raking to do. It was well after dark before Bob got in the house after this day!
