Some improvements to the outbuildings - May 2010

The bottom section of the outbuildings is due to be re-roofed shortly and in anticipation of this the roof is being brought forward to cover the new log-store area.

The lower level which houses a kennel (or could be a stable), a workshop and now a log store is now linked to the upper level of outbuildings which will house an office, garden shed, outdoor kitchen and dining area. The ramp is designed to make it easier for wheeling logs from the log store!

There is now to be a huge quantity of soil added to the area to continue the banking that is currently in front of the house along past these buildings.

More oak is moved into the house - Feb 2010

Two lots of oak have been taken in during February, the green oak to start the construction of the mezzanine floor in the salon. Bob put all this up by himself with the use of a block and tackle and a lot of bumps to the head!

The old oak beams rescued from the barn have been cleaned up, sanded down and then brought back in and now fixed up (again one man with a block and tackle) into position as these will show below the ceiling height.

The sheds are growing - Dec 09/Jan 10

Over the winter work continues on the outdoor buildings. This did mean that the roof was put on with Bob on hands and knees having fallen and broken a rib in his back. The larger open space is to be an outdoor dining room with the far corner forming and outdoor kitchen. The two closed in rooms are going to be a store room for lawn mower etc. The end room with the window and view down the valley is going to be the office.
